In ancient Indo-European mythologies, various goddesses or demigoddesses appear as a triad. They are portrayed either as three separate
beings or as a single deity who is commonly represented with three specific characteristics. It is often ambiguous whether a single being or
three beings are present. In most ancient portrayals of the Triple Goddess, the separate deities perform distinct yet related functions.
Y Maiden Z
The Maiden represents enchantment, inception, expansion, and the promise of new beginnings, youth, and birth.
Y Mother Z
The Mother represents ripeness, fertility, sexuality, nurturance, fulfillment, stability, power, procreation, and life.
Y Crone Z
The Crone represents wisdom, repose, endings, and death.
Y Triadic Imagery Z
One interpretation is reincarnation as we observe the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. The same cycle can also represent the renewing
cycles of the moon, life, and nature. The Crone represents an ending, but she is always followed by the Maiden signaling new beginnings
which reach fruition in the Mother, and so the cycle of life continues.
